The co-founders of Helios Aragon have completed the acquisition of Helium Resources Limited (HRL), a UK-based natural hydrogen and helium exploration company.

Helios Aragon is a recognised leader in the European natural hydrogen industry and is operator of the Monzon Natural Hydrogen Project in Spain. The Spanish project was declared of regional significance in 2023 by the Regional Government of Aragon. The purchase of HRL represents the continued implementation of a strategy to grow a quality global portfolio of natural hydrogen and helium projects. A Polish affiliate was established at the end of 2022.

HRL has been actively exploring in the UK for several years and has identified a highly prospective play fairway for both natural hydrogen and helium. The takeover meets both companies’ goals by leveraging financial backing and a track-record of delivery to enable the drilling of the UKs first exploration well for natural hydrogen and helium.

The acquisition is also timely as the new government commences building Great British Energy (https://great-british-energy.org.uk). The five key aims of GBE align well with those of the natural hydrogen and helium industry.
