One of the first comprehensive reviews of the development scenarios envisaged for the three main natural hydrogen plays was published May 2025.
The Monzón Field is featured as an example of a reservoir-trap-seal accumulation with gaseous hydrogen trapped underneath an impermeable seal (salt). The authors conclude that only developments of reservoir-trap-seal plays can potentially deliver hydrogen to meet industrial offtake.
