Monzón Natural Hydrogen Project featured on RTVE (Spanish television)

Europe’s first dedicated natural hydrogen well and project has been featured on RTVE (Spanish television network), the main channel for viewers in Spain, focusing on contents of national interest.

In the feature, Country Manager and Project Director, Luis Carmona, visited the site for the planned appraisal well located just outside the town on Monzón and described the company’s vision to the create a regional hub for the production and supply of hydrogen to local industry.

Carmona explained how the Monzon-2 appraisal well, to be drilled in the second half of 2026, is aiming to confirm the presence of commercial quantities of natural hydrogen, and potentially helium, discovered in the Monzon-1 well in the 1960’s.

Local stakeholders were also interviewed as part of the program, including the Mayor of Monzon, Isaac Claver. The mayor commented that, as 100 years ago when the largest sugar industry in Spain was stablished in town, the Helios Aragón project is an excellent opportunity for Monzon due to its great potential for wealth creation, qualified jobs and the establishment of new companies in the area, within an environmentally friendly framework.
